Fr. Gordon Brown RIP
Your prayers are asked for the repose of the soul of Fr. Gordon Brown RIP. Fr. Brown was known by many in the Parish and lived in the Parish flat. After some months of
failing health he sadly died recently.
Reception is at St. Peter’s 4.30pm Thursday 21 November with Requiem Mass
at 12 noon Friday 22nd celebrated by Archbishop Leo Cushley.
A cremation at Mortonhall will follow
Fresh start Christmas appeal: November collection of hamper items. An Edinburgh-based charity helping people, who’ve been homeless, to get established in new homes.
During November the charity will collect Festive Fare items for food hampers for needy families (mince pies, biscuits, sweets, any non perishable foods e.g. tinned meat/fish, pasta). Donations can be left in the box at rear of Church.
`Do not turn your face away from anybody who is poor’. When shopping this week why not buy a little extra (non-perishable food or toiletry items) and bring it along on Sunday to our Fresh Start box (at the back of St. Peter’s) or to the back of St Columba’s. Most of us do not experience real hunger, most of us have toiletries and basic household goods but many do not.
Diary date for readers – 7pm Wednesday 27 November, St. Peter’s Readers are welcome to come to the one that suits them best. We use the new lectionary for the first time on the 1st Sunday of Advent.
More donations needed. Thanks to donors for much appreciated warm clothing, shoes and trainers, for asylum seekers and woollen hats for ‘Stella Maris’ for sea men.

Fr Jamie presents a 45 minute session on Zoom (webinar) over three weeks in Advent: Wed 4 Dec, Wed 11 Dec, and Wed 18 Dec at 7:00pm.
The annual Archdiocesan Rosary takes place each Monday at 7:45pm throughout Advent, beginning on 2 December, Join us to pray for unborn children, their mothers and all pro-life intentions.
The national Ceilidh Ball for young adults takes place at Central Hall, 2 West Tollcross, Edinburgh, EH3 9BP, on Saturday 16 November at 7:00pm. Entry is £40 and includes a live ceilidh band, a glass of fizz on arrival and buffet.
Dress: Formal. Event is for ages 18-35.
Celebrate the saintly wonder woman of Scotland with a day of fun, faith and games for p4-7s! The event is a chance for children in the Archdiocese to learn all about St Margaret while enjoying games and activities. It takes place on Saturday 16 November at The Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1BB. |
